Identify a story in your organization that helps explain issues that need to be addressed. Upload into your Group blog, a story about your organization that helps explain issue that need to be addressed

What kind of story chose by members?
Jack: was working as a project planner for the Hong Kong University Graduation Association for my internship, to help them to organize the Confucius Carnival 2012, and she faced a very large difficulties as we are not sure whether we can complete all the things before the commenced date."
Cissy: "My story is about a famous Chinese investment holding company: Alibaba. The company, together with its subsidiaries, are engaged in the provision of software, technology and other services on the online. Staffs who are responsible for selling “Trustpass” are classified to a certain team depend on the judgments of manager in human resource rather than choose one team by themselves. Sometimes, the judgments of manager are not so accuracy. "

Vanice: "I work in a training department and we have offer elearning to our staffs. However, some of our staffs always have difficulties in completing the elearning course for different reasonsAs we have buy the elearning system from an external vendor, so our IT department does not offer maintenance or technical support to the elearning system. Whenever they cannot complete the elearning, they will try to approach me or my colleague to solve the problem, the process is very time consuming. I reflect the problem to my boss and finally he hires a new staff with technical background to handle all the elearning enquires."

Milky: "I have been in Japan for more than half a year after my  university, and I had some work experience in some Japanese restaurant.I am really impressed by the Japanese people; conscientious professional working attitude,  responsibility to  work, enthusiasm thoughtful and considerate service. They are deserves to be the first ranking of service industry in the world."

Makino: "My story is about the innovation of using ICT in my organization. My organization used to be a traditional middle school. The leadership of it was not enlightened and had very traditional pedagogical perceptions. The school paid attention on promoting the whole score level of students and thought traditional instruction was a good enough way. So we had little imagination of ICT using in courses except a solo lantern slide machine in each classroom."

Ricky: "I would like to share a story that happened in my summer internship experience in Cathay Pacific Airways in the year 2010. My main duty is to learn the ground operation and customer assistance service.  I noticed that the company modified its paying and welfare system, and put a cost control through a few factors: the in-fight service and catering; employees’ medical and transportation allowance; besides, the employees' wages paying system was changed, from a daily-based pay to an hour-based pay. The result for the employees, especially for the cabin crews have to fly more to earn a satisfying wage level."

What could we learn from this story?
Jack: In my story, I realize for an organization which seeks a great efficiency, what they need the most is the collaboration as well as the communication. Also, inside a team, the team spirit and the collaboration is vital indeed. Otherwise, no matter how much effort I paid, I still cannot get a good result."

Cissy: "The standard is too single to divide people. The mistake division of staffs may cause the unnecessary troubles and increase the burden of working."

Vanice: "Company managements always concern about how to lower the cost, so they may be reluctant to hire new staffs. However, arranging non technical staffs to handle technical issue can lead to inefficiency and thus the cost could be higher than hire an extra technical staff. Furthermore, staffs need to wait long time to solve the problem and thus they may be frustrated with the situation and lack of temper to complete the training."

Milky: " the world's NO.1 in service area. I really admire it and we can also learn something from the Japanese people in some degree."

Makino: "These schools are on the way to use ICT implementation in education. These schools get more and more ICT equipment and can keep the pace with the social updating ICT. More and more leaders and teachers become realize the important of ICT implementation and begin to make some changes of the traditional pedagogy."

Ricky: "The thing I learned is that working in a big and famous company does not mean that things will be easier. we should try to think what we can do because, as a new staff works in a basic position, we do not have much bargaining power"

Interactions between group members about session 6
Cissy saild: Hello, Jack
I think this performance is very helpful in developing the traditional cultrue, especial among the youth. As you said, collaboration and communication is very important for an organization. In your case, I think the role of time management is vital. How about your opinion?
Milky said: Hi,Jack
Thank you for sharing.
I can`t agree with you any more that you said " I realize for an organization which seeks a great efficiency, what they need the most is the collaboration as well as the communication."
The efficiency is the core of one organization and to achieve this we should do more collaboration and communication with your group.
Makino said: Hi Jack,

Thank you for sharing your story in the organization. From your story I realized the importance of collaboration and communication. I think the problem that you met at the first is the mistake that we may all make in our ages. Besides I think the leadership in an organization is very important. At first you and members were lack of collaboration and communication and hardly catch up with the deadline, it may be the leadership who didn't control everything well.
Milky said: Yes, I agree with you that you say we could do nothing in a basic position, but I think you really have strong sense of responsibility and considerably creativity. So you definitely could make sense of it someday.
Ricky said: Hi Milky,

Thanks for sharing your working experience in Japan.
However, would you tell us an issue (a story that happened) , and its result and influence to you in your working restaurant before? Thank you
Milky said: Hi Cissy
Thank you for shearing your experience in Alibaba company, and I am curious about what you said that " The mistake division of staffs may cause the unnecessary troubles",and I want to know what unnecessary trouble you think there will be in the company.
Thank you!
Makino said: Hi Vanice,

Thank you for sharing your story in the organization. I agree with you that arranging non technical staffs to handle technical issue leads to inefficiency and thus the cost could be higher than hire an extra technical staff. So I think you have enough courage to make good choice to talk to the management about the situation. Besides, the video that you shared for us to sharing stories is useful too.
Milky said : yes,Makino chan, I remember I have told you something about it when I was still in Japan and when I just came to Hongkong, and I hope someday we could have a travel to Japan together.
Milky said : Hi Makino
I think in some general middle school or high school in mainland China, it is a common sense that the school put all the focus on the scores of student, and they do not care the approached or facilities used in T and C procedure, they do not value the important of ICT, and they prefer to spend time in doing more exercise or remember some more new English word.
Vanice said:  Makino,

I think putting too much emphasize on examination scores is not a particular situation in China as Hong Kong students also under great pressure in public examinations. Spoon feeding teaching not only making students lack of creativity but also for the teachers too. Using ICT in teaching can enhance student’s interest in learning as they are not only listening but also interactive with others. The study content may be same but the learning process would have more fun. On the other hand, people always reluctant to change as they are more familiar with the old way. This may due to a lack of security, they do not know what will come next after the changing. For example, teachers with less technical knowlegdes may scare elimination after the introduction of ICT. Thus, some of them may oppose to using ICT in teaching.

Milky said:  I'm so glad that all of us are interested in the Japanese culture, and I thing we have a lot to learn from the Japanese people and their organization.

Ricky said:  She has ever said that one big common issue is she had to finish every task, even which one is very very small. And once found not a hundred percent finished, the one will be blamed a lot. That may be a Japan culture.
Milky said : To tell the truth, I think it is under the impact of the education system applied in mainland China, it seems that the NET means everything to everyone, including schools , parents, and of course students themselves. Maybe it is time for us to make some change now.

Milky said:  Hi,Vanice
Thank you for sharing your experience in the training department.
You talk about your own experience that you reflected the problem to your boss and finally he hires a new staff with technical background to handle all the elearning enquires.
You really set a good example for us and I began to admire you now, you really a girl with your own thought.
Cheers!
Makino said:  Hi Milky,
Good Job! After reading this I become more eager to go to Japan. You introduced about the rule and some situation about Japanese part-time job. But it seems like that you have not tell us your own story of the part-time job experience. Can you share some. Thank you.
Milky said:  so many stories comes to my mind and I am confusing about selecting which one to share to you, I heard you will have a individual tour to around Japan, so after you come back from this travel, may be we will have more staff to share to each other. Wish you a nice trip and take care.
Makino said: Hi guys, about the positive relationship between bargaining power and the basic entry level hiring, do you think so?
